Literature Text

How I long to drink from your sea,
oh, what pleasure it would give me.
I am thirsty for the taste
of your flavor against my lips,
enjoying you with tiny sips.
Composure slips—cannot waste—

To take long gulps from your being
gives me such a heady feeling,
and so healing to my heart.
I yearn for more and you do give
every ounce, so addictive.
You make me live—love impart—

My (late) Cywydd Llosgyrnog intended for the 2015 December Form Challenge that was hosted by :iconprojectdfc:.  With a love poem or two based on fire, I wanted one based on water.  I had this really strange dream months back where I was drinking water and it was so gratifyinglike I had just crossed a desert and hadnt drunk water in daysso awkwardly delicious, I used that as inspiration for this poem.  Water that merely doesnt nourish/hydrate, but literally feels as if it gave you life.

The Cywydd Llosgyrnog is a form made up of unlimited sixains with a 8-8-7-8-8-7 syllable structure.  Internal and end rhymes are both employed, with an independent stanza end rhyme scheme of aabccb while the fourth syllable of the third and sixth lines rhyme with the end rhymes from the previous two lines.

Update 3/2019: Edited for NaNoEdMo 2019.
