I don’t know how this came to be,
you had always been there for me.
I recall your desperate plea
as we ran through sand, from the sea,
monstrous wave consuming the sky…
you gone in the blink of an eye.
you had always been there for me.
I recall your desperate plea
as we ran through sand, from the sea,
monstrous wave consuming the sky…
you gone in the blink of an eye.

My Marisya for the 2017 Middle Eastern March hosted by . This time around with this form, I just had the thought about natural disasters and the lives lost...I couldn't imagine going through that. This one short and swift, much like how I would imagine a tsunami would be, leaving that bitter (saltwater) aftertaste because of its senselessness.
A Marisya is a poem comprised of unlimited sestets with no set meter or syllable count. Each sestet consists of a monorhymed quatrain followed by a monorhymed couplet, giving the rhyme scheme aaaabb, etc. It is a poem that is for mourning the loss of a close one, where the content is broken down into two parts--lamentation and burning of heart.
