Literature Text

My tender, little butterfly,
I watched the day you clipped your wings,
binding you with suppressed feelings,
and banished yourself from the sky
to save yourself the endless tears
from broken wings that would not heal
and so I choose to now reveal
my presence here for all these years—
I stayed by you both day and night,
but, as always, just out of sight—
so, my darling, let your heart soar
and use my wings to fly once more;
do take my hand and hold on tight,
together we shall take to flight.

My (late) Sonondilla intended for the 2015 December Form Challenge that was hosted by :iconprojectdfc:.  I mean, its nearly April already, but Im determined to finish this challenge.

The Sonondilla, also known as the Sardine, the Redondilla Sonnet, and the Napoleonic Sonnet, is a form that consists of fourteen lines structured into two Redondilla quatrains and followed with an envelope sestet.  While meter structure can be applied to the lines, its only required of this form to have the lines consist of eight syllables.  The rhyme scheme has two variations, one being abbacddceeffee and the other being abbaabbaeeffee.

Update 3/2019: Edited for NaNoEdMo 2019.

I like that idea of another helping us to soar once more even if we don’t feel like we can.
